Much of my work since graduate school has incorporated the figure and specifically doll forms. These works are related to the objectness of dolls, the narratives and insecurities of childhood and the interplay between interior monologues and the self that we present to the world. The bodies of these figures are simplified and the heads are detailed, textured and enlarged to signify the life of the mind and subconscious. Most of the figures sit inside a landscape of broken, cast porcelain objects and some begin to use the interior spaces of their vessel-like bodies as places to hold small objects. Although I have moved away from these forms since 2013, I am currently working on a new grouping of figures.
